2022 CUFA BC DISTINGUISHED ACADEMICS AWARDS

(xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Stó:lō Territories – Vancouver, BC, October 29, 2021) – The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of BC (CUFA BC) announces its call for nominations to the 2022 Distinguished Academics Awards.

The CUFA BC Distinguished Academics Awards series highlight the vital contributions faculty make to the community through their research and scholarly activity. There are three awards, each recognizing faculty for the impact of their scholarly research beyond the academy.

  1. Early in Career Award recognizes the outstanding contributions made by scholars at relatively early stages in their careers.
  2. Ehor Boyanowsky Academic of the Year Award recognizes specific and recent outstanding contributions to the community beyond the academic through research or other scholarly activity at any career stage.
  3. Paz Buttedahl Career Achievement Award recognizes sustained outstanding contributions to the community beyond the academy through research or other scholarly activities by an individual or group over the majority of an academic career.

The award winners will each receive a plaque, $2,000 cash award, and will celebrate with friends and colleagues at a gala. Nominations are open to members of the faculty associations at Royal Roads University, Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, and University of Victoria.

Nominations close January 31, 2022 with an awards ceremony to take place April 13 in Victoria, BC.

CUFA BC represents over 5,500 faculty members, including professors, professional librarians, lecturers, instructors, and other academics at the five research-intensive universities in British Columbia, which include University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, Royal Roads University and University of Northern British Columbia. CUFA BC celebrates fifty years of working closely with the member Faculty Associations at each institution. Our purposes are to support high-quality post-secondary education and research in British Columbia and to advocate for the interests of our members.
