Dear Bruce E. More:
Thank you for your letter dated February 15, 1996, concerning the draft proposal for establishing the Technical University of British Columbia and the request for a Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia (CUFA/BC) nominee to the Interim Planning Council for the Technical University.
You will be interested to know that the draft proposal for establishing the Technical University of British Columbia, is in its final stages and the Ministry is proposing that it proceed in the Spring 1996 Legislative session. When it is introduced, the Bill establishing the Technical University will become public and open to discussion and debate. If you like, you may forward your comments for consideration at that time.
As regards to the Interim Planning Council, I wish to advise you that the Council will cease to exist once the Bill establishing the Technical University is tabled for the Legislative session in the Spring. However, if and when the life of the Interim Planning Council is extended, the Ministry will consider your request for a CUFA/BC representative on the Council.
Thank you for your interest in the Technical University of British Columbia.
Yours sincerely,

Shell Harvey
Assistant Deputy Minister
Post Secondary Education Division
