Why Varying Degrees?
So, why do we call this blog Varying Degrees?
First, it answers that age old question asked us by the media when government makes a post-secondary education announcement...
"Are you satisfied with the announcement made today by the BC government?"
Usually, our answer is some variation of...
"We are satisfied/dissatisfied to varying degrees."
It's not because we are wishy-washy, rather it's because as an organization we try to see the issues from all sides and recognize that there are almost always trade-offs when we are dealing with government.
It's no different during an election campaign. No one political party has all the answers to our concerns, but they do address them to varying degrees.
Second, Varying Degrees is also an obvious pun since our members educate students in degree programs, and the quality and accessibility of degree programs is the primary focus of our organization.
So, there you go.
Later,
Rob
